Cold Brew coffee is "hot" these days! It tastes smooth, easy on the stomach (less acid), and tastes great! Many like to add cream, cashew or coconut milk to make a special cooler with about the same amount of caffeine as a hot cup of joe.
What most do not know is they are paying too much for this treat when they buy it at the grocery or the coffee shop! For pennies cold brew is simple to make at home. All it takes are your favorite coffee beans, water and 20-24 hours later you have a beverage that can last more than a week in the fridge!
An easy method to make your own cold brew at home involves a French press:
Step 1: Grind ¾ cup coffee beans into coarse grounds.
Step 2: Add coarse grounds and 4 cups cold, filtered water to the French press.
Step 3: Stir to combine grounds and water.
Step 4: Cover French press with lid. Don’t press down on the plunger.
Note: You can also use plastic wrap to cover the French press.
Step 5: Allow coffee to brew for 12-24 hours at room temperature.
Step 6: Once brewed, slowly press down on the plunger to separate the beans from the coffee.
Step 7: When you’re ready to drink, pour the coffee into a glass or Mason jar. Add ice, coffee ice cubes, milk or other ingredients to suit your preferences.
Step 8: The most important step… ENJOY!
